11th edition: new distances, new categories, dual federation
The 11th edition introduces a complete format overhaul: 28 categories, the 5.3 km Pradiei course, and free entry for all CSI and VSS members.
The 11th Ciaminada Nonesa, held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Sarnonico sports center, marks a turning point in the race’s history. After years built around a half-marathon, the organizers redesigned the event around the Pradiei cycling path: 5.3 km between Sarnonico and Romeno, suitable for runners of all levels.
The new format
Fourteen youth categories from ages 5 to 19, and fourteen adult categories from 20 upwards. Distances range from 200 m for the youngest (Minicuccioli) to 5.3 km for adults. Races start at 11:00, with the Sprint Champion competition from 11:30.
A bilingual event
The Val di Non sits on the border between Trentino and South Tyrol, and the 2022 edition formalized what had been building for years: the Ciaminada Nonesa is now recognized by both CSI Trento and the VSS (Vereinigung Südtiroler Sportverbände). Entry is free for athletes affiliated with either federation.
A format built to last
The Pradiei course and the 28 categories the organizers are introducing this year are intended to become the stable framework for the Ciaminada Nonesa going forward - a structure that speaks equally to runners from Trentino and South Tyrol, young and old alike.
