FAQ Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the most common questions about the Ciaminada Nonesa
Where does the race take place?
The race takes place in Sarnonico, in the Val di Non (Trentino). The meeting point is the Sarnonico Sports Field at Via Alessandro Manzoni 24. Parking is available near the sports field.
What is the registration fee?
Registration for the Ciaminada Nonesa is completely free for all categories.
How do I register?
There are three registration channels. Athletes already registered in the VSS Raiffeisen Stadt- und Dorfläufe circuit do not need to do anything - their bib and chip from the circuit are valid for this race too. CSI Trento members register via the CSI TN portal (csitrento.it). Athletes from other clubs send participant details to crono.bolzano@ficr.it. The deadline for all channels is Thursday before race day at 12:00.
Where do I pick up my bib?
Runners participating through the VSS Raiffeisen Stadt- und Dorfläufe circuit already have their bib and chip - both are valid for this race, no collection needed. All other athletes will find the race secretary's desk near the start line, open from 09:00 on race day.
How does the timing chip work?
The chip records each athlete's official finishing time and is used to generate the race rankings. It is mandatory for all categories, except Mini Cubs (ages 5-7). VSS athletes use their circuit chip, which remains valid for the other races in the circuit. All other athletes receive their chip at bib collection and must return it after the race.
How long is the race?
The main course is 5.3 km, reserved for Junior and Seniors categories. Youth categories run shorter distances: 200 m (Mini Cubs), 540 m (Cubs and Beginners), 1,080 m (Youth), 1,770 m (Cadets), and 2,460 m (Juniors).
What is the minimum age to participate?
The race is open from age 5. The youngest category, Mini Cubs, includes children ages 5 to 7 running 200 m. There is no upper age limit.
What is the schedule on race day?
Bib and chip collection opens at 09:00 at the Sarnonico Sports Field. Races start at 11:00, beginning with youth categories and continuing through to adults. The Pasta Party starts at around 12:00 - adults who are still on the course at that time are welcome to join once they finish their race. The awards ceremony follows at 14:00.
How does the Pasta Party work?
After the races, a Pasta Party is held - a communal pasta lunch open to everyone, athletes and non-athletes alike. Since the race is free, we ask those who want to take advantage of the service for a small contribution. You pay directly on-site, near the race start.
Does the race count toward a circuit or championship?
The Ciaminada Nonesa is part of the VSS Raiffeisen Stadt- und Dorfläufe circuit, which brings together the main running events of South Tyrol and Trentino. It also counts as the Regional EPS Road Running Championship and as a qualification race for the Italian CSI National Road Running Championship.
Where can I find results from past editions?
Results from all editions are available in the Rankings section of the website, where you can download PDFs with the overall ranking, category rankings, and club rankings.

The Ciaminada Nonesa was born in 1972 as a 30 km walk through the Val di Non. After decades of hiatus, it was revived in modern form in 2010 as a pilot run and in 2011 as an official race.
