Frick and Pircher win the first Ciaminada over 10 km

Gerd Frick (Telmekom Team Südtirol) and Petra Pircher (ASC Laas Raiffeisen) won the ninth edition, the first at the new 10 km distance and the first held in September.

The ninth edition of the Ciaminada Nonesa took place on Sunday, September 1, 2019, in Sarnonico. The race brought two significant changes from previous years: the date moved from October to September, and the main adult race distance was cut from 21.1 km to 10 km. Youth categories kept their usual distances.

Men

Gerd Frick (Telmekom Team Südtirol) won the men’s race in 36:14 over 10 km.

Women

Petra Pircher (ASC Laas Raiffeisen) won the women’s race in 41:57, claiming her second consecutive title at the Ciaminada after her victory in the half-marathon the year before.

A new distance

The switch to 10 km changed the character of the race: a more accessible distance than the half-marathon, suited to competitive runners who want to race without committing to more than 21 km. The start list reflected this shift, with a mix of Trentino and South Tyrolean athletes registered through the VSS circuit and CSI.
