Cavallar and Bergamo win the fourth edition as Nordic Walking goes competitive

Alex Cavallar (U.S.A.M. Baitona) and Mirella Bergamo (U.S.A.M. Baitona) dominated the fourth edition. Nordic Walking was held as a competitive category for the first time, with 154 participants.

The fourth edition of the Ciaminada Nonesa took place on Sunday, October 19, 2014, in Sarnonico, with more than 200 athletes in the competitive race. The main change for the year was the transition of Nordic Walking from a free-participation walk to a full competitive category.

Men

Alex Cavallar (U.S.A.M. Baitona) won the men’s race in 1:17:25.

Women

Mirella Bergamo (U.S.A.M. Baitona) won the women’s race in 1:29:11, repeating her victory from the previous edition. The two athletes from the same club swept the podium tops, with both Cavallar and Bergamo claiming their respective titles.

Nordic Walking goes competitive

After its non-competitive debut in 2013, the fourth edition marked the transition of Nordic Walking to a full competitive category, with official rankings, timing, and a separate awards ceremony. The 154 participants covered the 12 km route around Sarnonico in autumn conditions in Val di Non.

The weekend also included a seminar on movement and well-being, the second in a series started at the previous edition.
