Rigoni and Bergamo win the third edition as Nordic Walking makes its debut

Carlo Rigoni (Atletica Trento CMB) and Mirella Bergamo (U.S.A.M. Baitona) won the 21 km race. More than 300 people attended the event, with the first Nordic Walking selling out in advance.

The third edition of the Ciaminada Nonesa took place on Sunday, October 20, 2013, in Ronzone. More than 300 people took part in the overall event: 203 athletes in the competitive race, around 100 on the shortened 10.5 km course, and another 100 in the first Nordic Walking in the history of the Ciaminada, which had sold out its registrations ahead of time.

Men

Carlo Rigoni (Atletica Trento CMB) won the men’s race in 1:16:09. The race was started by Giordano Benedetti, Italian 800 m champion and the event’s testimonial.

Women

Mirella Bergamo (U.S.A.M. Baitona) won the women’s race in 1:28:36.

Nordic Walking makes its debut

The year’s major novelty was the first Nordic Walking at the Ciaminada, open to everyone on a separate route. The response was immediate: registrations closed due to sellout, with 100 participants. The enthusiasm showed that the format was popular and worth building into a permanent fixture.

A small route adjustment

The 2013 course required a modification near Romeno, where forestry work made the Sentiero Callisti trail impassable. The steepest climb was extended from 200 to 350 meters, without significantly altering the overall character of the route.
