Battocletti sets course record, second edition breaks participation mark

Giuliano Battocletti (Sci Club Fondisti Alta Val di Non) covered the 21 km in 1:15:18, setting a new course record. 210 athletes at the start, and television coverage for the first time.

The second edition of the Ciaminada Nonesa took place on Sunday, October 21, 2012, in Ronzone, on a spectacular autumn day. 210 athletes lined up at the start; 200 of them crossed the finish line - a participation record for the young event.

Men

Giuliano Battocletti (Sci Club Fondisti Alta Val di Non) won in 1:15:18, improving the course record from the first edition by nearly three minutes. The victory carried special symbolic weight: Battocletti raced for the organizing club, the same group that had brought the Ciaminada back to life the year before. Second was Marco Pozza (Atletic Club 96 Bolzano) in 1:18:02, third Enrico Cozzini in 1:20:27.

Women

Cristina Tenaglia (Atletica Rotaliana) won the women’s race in 1:33:07. She had finished second at the inaugural 2011 edition and now made the decisive step forward. Second was Lara Torresani (Atletica Valli di Non e Sole) in 1:33:42, third Cinzia Lorenzoni (Sci Club Fondisti Alta Val di Non) in 1:37:28.

On television for the first time

The second edition received the first television coverage in the history of the Ciaminada. TCA Trentino TV followed the race with two cameras and an on-site reporter for the Sport Avventura program. In the days before the race, the “A tutto campo” program aired a preview feature. A clear sign that the event had gained visibility well beyond Val di Non.
