Great success for the first competitive edition
On October 17, 2011 in Ronzone, Ciaminada Nonesa became an official race. Francesca Iachemet won the women's race, fresh from a bronze medal at the Italian mountain running championships.
A year after edition zero, Ciaminada Nonesa made its debut as a competitive race. On Sunday, October 17, 2011, in Ronzone, Sci Club Fondisti Alta Val di Non and Pro Loco di Ronzone organized the first official edition.
A symbolic start
The race was sent off by Primo Gretter, a veteran runner who had won the Ciaminada back in 1973, before the long hiatus. Giordano Benedetti, the Italian 800 m champion, appeared as the event’s guest of honor. Two presences that tied the race’s past to its return.
Francesca Iachemet wins the women’s race
The women’s title went to Francesca Iachemet, crossing the line in 1h29’41”. A few weeks earlier she had taken the bronze medal at the Italian Long-Distance Mountain Running Championships. Cristina Tenaglia finished second in 1h35’21”, Giulia Franchi third in 1h37’32”.
A community effort
Beyond the results, the first edition was made possible by the collective work of firefighters, mountain rescue, medical staff, race judges, local civic organizations, civil protection volunteers, and the local parish. A network of volunteers without whom this first edition would not have been possible.
